Autumn Survivor

A poem of mine from a few years back……..

Autumn Survivor

Tougher than I look,

a blessing well disguised.

Others blown away

by furious gales,

riding glorious gusty waves,

laughing riotous liberation,

their brief breathless ecstasy.

Yet some met gentler fates in

falls impossibly soft,

sank into first and then became

a gentle bed of kindred strangers.

I wait on the next breeze,

held here now by thin fading strands,

quiet memories of

splendid ostentation,

surrounded by a sea of evergreen.
